17-Inch Monitors - Every Inch Matters

My computer only had a 17-inch monitor, but it was fine for my needs. It displayed text and simple graphics well, and let me surf the internet just fine. It also fit well on my desk, and didn’t take up too much room. I remember the days when computer monitors were twelve inches and resolution was only 400 by 600 lines. Sure it took time to fire up the monitor’s coal boiler, but since the Internet was being delivered by the mailman anyway (none of those modems back then, let me tell you) we had time to sit & stare at the faint glow of the tiny screen. Forgive me for sounding like an old timer, but sometimes just enough is plenty. (more…)

Success of 12 Step Programs to Treat Alcohol, Drug, Food, and Other Dependencies

I have worked in the field of human services for many years.  Throughout the years I have seen many therapy trends come and go, but one that seems to linger and be truly helpful to people is the 12 step program.  I think one of the main reasons the 12 step program sustains the test of time is that most of the support groups that center themselves on the steps are run by members.  Since the basic 12 step program is based on overcoming addictions each group can agree to focus on what the members need. Three, Three, Three Credit Bureaus in One!

Some of us have no business writing about the three major credit bureaus, and some of us have no need for all that is involved in the 3 major credit bureaus.  (And some of us fit in both of these categories, having no real assets to work with or write about!)  In the same respect, the leading bureaus do factor into most of our lives — if we have ever purchased a home, a car, or other major item, or if we use credit cards.
