It seems that every time you turn on the television there is another medical study being released to tell us what we are supposed to eat. So many times the studies contradict each other. One week they tell you to have a high protein source. The next week you are told that your carbohydrates should be high. Being a kid is without a doubt the easiest part of your life. I know it can seem rough or harsh at times, but I assure you that it’s not that bad. You see, when you’re a child you hardly have any responsibilities. Just take a look at my seven year old for example. She goes to second grade, and I tell her to keep her toys off the floor. That’s it! That’s the whole deal. Can you imagine if that was all the work you had to do? Life would be grand indeed. So much free time to do what ever you please. Unfortunately we all grow up and the dream fades. Anyway, one of the coolest parts of being a kid is the birthday bashes. Folks go all out now days with these events. Not long ago we had a party for our child and it was pretty intense. I’m talking pizza, cake, gift bags, printable birthday invitations, pinatas, games, and even cash. Okay, maybe not cash. (more…)

Having the right martial art equipment is an important part of your training regimen. I should know. When I first began training, I had no martial arts gear at all. I used to do a lot of drills without martial arts sparring equipment – even full on fighting as part of my training! This was fine for a while, and it seemed like I could get on well without any martial art equipment at all. I had some loose sweats and my tennis shoes, and I was ready to go. Sure, I would get knocked about the face from time to time, because I had no gloves or other martial art equipment, but a bruise here and there did not seem to be such a big deal to me. If you live in an apartment, you may have a lot of storage space, or you may be wondering what you are going to do with all of your belongings. I’ve never found a place with enough apartment storage, so I always have to find ways to keep my things up and out of the way. I swear my belongings seem to multiply when I’m not looking. Because I move a lot, I always try to find a way to cut down on the clutter, and try to think of new ways to deal with apartment storage.
