This residue is formed of the essential oils in the coffee, which is what contains those aromatic flavors. While scrubbing out the pot produces a clean pot, but those same residues are also in the coffee maker. When you don’t clean coffee makers out, those oils accumulate, above and inside the brewing basket, as well as in the stem that feeds into the brewing basket. After just a week, these oils become bitter and transfer that bitter taste into each subsequent pot. This is easily demonstrated. I have always loved swimming, so I started swimming in a nearby lake. At first I kept it easy – just maybe half an hour a day, at a slow pace. After long, however, I sped it up. I was actually getting into my fitness training routine! Soon, I began to add things to my fitness routine. I would do weights twice a week, and switch it up now and then adding different cardiovascular activities as well. For example, I would take a quick walk around the lake. Soon, my daily walk became a run. What I did not realize at the time was that all of these athletic activities for leading me towards a career in fitness training. I guess I should have seen it coming, but it was so unexpected.
