It’s official, 2009 has been the worst business here for any car company this side of Hyundai; it hasn’t been this bad in decades. There were pictures in the papers a while ago about how the docks in Los Angeles were piling up with thousands of Toyotas and Mercedes-Benz’s that were manufactured by companies that didn’t quite pull the brakes on the production lines quickly enough when the auto market collapsed. And now, with things seeming to look up once again, automakers want to get rid of all that backlog, and get ready for the 2010 model year. But you do realize that they are dangling incentive after incentive in your face everyday, hoping that you’ll be hypnotized into buying a couple for the family before long - these are some of the best car deals ever.

Hybrid car sales are one of the “silver bullets” that are expected to save what is charitably described as a struggling industry. Everyone knows the auto industry - or at least the American auto industry - has been going downhill for forty years or more. Everyone knows that GM and Chrysler had to go through bankruptcy court this past year, and that Ford were nearly there themselves. But hybrid car sales can be what saves the industry. And with it thousands of jobs. Thanks to the effects of the recession, the tastes of Americans have changed drastically over the past eighteen months. Gone are the days of the giant pick-up trucks and SUVs, huge cars, much larger than what most people actually need, that get poor gas mileage and suffer from high tax penalties.

My wife and kids wanted to go to the beach one day.Fine I thought.A nice relaxing drive,sit in the sun getting a tan.Sure why not.
I went out to the garage to get the ice chest for our lunch and noticed problem number one.The rear tire of the car was low.Not flat but low enough not to be safe to drive the distance to the beach.So out comes the portable 12v air compressor,plug it in and within minutes problem solved.At least for today.
My son then came out to the garage to see what was going on.He promptly decided that work was not fun and was going to ride his bike.Slight problem,the tires on his bike were definitely low.No problem I thought.Plug the compressor in again and away he goes.
Pack all the rest of our beach gear and we were on the road finally.That is when it hit me.All those inflatable toys had to be blown up.Not to worry though.I still had the 12 volt compressor in the trunk.
We arrive safely and unload the stuff.Once more the air pump comes out and saves my day.I attach the inflator piece and in what seems like no time at all the toys are all inflated.The kids are happy and I finally get to relax in the sun.Yes you have to love how handy a 12 v air compressor is.

New car auctions are a good place to save money if you are determined to buy a brand new vehicle, but don’t want to pay the expensive dealer prices. With auctions, it is always buyer beware. This can be troublesome at a standard motor auction, as you will need to perform a thorough inspection of any vehicle that you wish to bid on. If you are not experienced in motor mechanics, you would be well advised to bring along someone who has enough understanding of the basics of checking out a vehicle.
Buying a new vehicle at auction is considerably less risky. It is still better to carry out a basic inspection than to simply take everything on trust, but there is far less opportunity for anyone to cover up serious faults in an attempt to realize a higher price than the vehicle should fetch. With new vehicles, it is simply a case of concentrating on the make and model that you need, as, in theory, all new vehicles of that make and model should be identical.
It has to be said that there are far fewer new cars sold at auction than there are used ones. Many auctions will sell vehicles which have been seized due to the owner failing to maintain the repayments on their vehicle loan. These vehicles will invariably have had some degree of use. It is extremely rare for a new vehicle to go to auction in this manner. Any new vehicles which are found at auction are typically from commercial liquidated stock. A trader or vehicle showroom will have had several new vehicles on show at the time the business folded, and it is these vehicles which will be put up for auction.
The current economic depression is likely to bring an increase in the numbers of these vehicles which are sent to auction. In the case of a private vehicle owner, it is often a matter of luck as to whether that owner can keep hold of his vehicle. If he manages to keep his job, he will probably be able to maintain the payments. Should he lose his job, he will almost certainly fail to keep paying, and the vehicle will have to be repossessed unless he sells it first of his own volition. In the case of a motor trader, however, the averages will almost certainly make life extremely difficult.
There is plenty of opportunity for a private individual to take advantage of this situation. Now that auctions have a far higher profile, and many of them have even gone online, it is easier than ever before to find the right auctions when new vehicles are sold. It important to be flexible, as the choice available to you may not be that wide. It is also absolutely vital to be disciplined. Provided you can set your limit and stick to it, you can pick up a bargain at new car auctions.
