Retro Kitchen? Novelty Salt And Pepper Shakers Are Cute, Nostalgic And Fun!

You don’t need to have a retro kitchen to enjoy the bright and cheery touch that novelty salt and pepper shakers bring to the table or kitchen counter. Sometimes, the smallest diversion from the ordinary in table settings makes all the difference in creating mood and providing conversation starters. While you may not want to use the damask tablecloth when serving spaghetti and garlic bread to your child’s boy scout troop, a set of ceramic salt and pepper shakers in the shape of Disney’s Simba and friends invites laughter and grabbing, to use and touch these enchanting shakers. While these novelty salt and pepper shakers were found in almost every 1940s and 1950s household, they seem to have fallen out of favor during the 1960s, replaced with sleek Scandinavian teak models with a more modern look.

Military Figurines

I remember playing with plastic army men when I was a kid. I suppose every boy and pretty much every girl plays with military figurines at some point, but I was pretty crazy about them. I had toy soldiers from pretty much every era of military history from the Middle Ages onward. I had a Union Civil War regiment, allied troops, Napoleonic soldiers, and plenty of medieval knights in full plate mail. I would stage epic battle that had no respect for history, pitching my knights against machine gun battalions that couldn’t penetrate the thick iron plates. Inevitably, the older would run rampant over the newer. For some reason, my fantasy life always sided with antiquity.

Cute Themed Baby Christmas Gift

A mobile above the cot might do the trick, especially one that plays a soothing lullaby. A music box is another musical idea. Some items can be personalized with a message or the baby’s name. There are My First Christmas Baby Blankets available in addition to teddy bears wearing T-shirts with Father Christmas printed on. Some teddy bears sing a song or play a tune. A Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer is another themed baby Christmas gift. My First Christmas Keepsake boxes are great for storing cards and other family mementoes. There are also boxes to keep baby’s first hair curl or tooth. Baby can have his or her own stocking with their name on it. Pewter mugs and breakfast and dinner crockery sets are popular too.

My New Passion For Angel Christmas Decoration

A few days after a craft sale, I went Christmas shopping.

I came upon a kiosk that was selling crystal ornaments. They had a beautiful angel Christmas decoration. The angel was clear with gold edging along the wings and halo. She was holding a candle. The flame of the candle was also edged in gold. The crystal sparkled and refracted what ever color was near it. I decided that I would buy this angel for my friend from church. It would be a nice thank you gift for the amount of time she donated to our fund raiser.

The worker at the kiosk wrapped the ornament beautifully in gold gift wrap and embellished it with sparkly ribbon that had starts on it. The name of the shop was gifts from heaven, which I thought was very fitting for this wonderful friend of mine.

I stopped at her house on my way home from shopping to give her the angel so she could put it on her tree for the season. She cried when opened it and put it on a display hook among her angel collection.

I left her house feel warm and happy about the gift I had presented her.

Feel free to read the article I wrote about my angel Christmas tree.

Batman Comics

Like many of the kids in my generation, the batman comic books were actually one of the last pieces of the batman franchise I was exposed to. I grew up on the old Adam West Batman and Robin shows, and after that it was the Batman cartoons. Then, of course, there were all the innumerable Batman movies, a few short-lived video games, and all of the Justice League cartoons. Between all of that, I actually did not read any batman comics until I was in college. When I did, it was like a whole new world had been opened to me. Although DC Comics has recently done a lot to revitalize their image, they were not at the top of their game for a while.

Antique perfume bottles

Antique perfume bottles are big business. Maybe it has something to do with the fascination that mankind has always had with perfumes and other such scents down the ages. Antique perfume bottles are made out of gold, glasses, hard stones and all of the other things that Egyptians used as containers for their perfumes. Among the most widely used is made of alabaster which was provided to them by Libya, their neighbor.

Finding Old Atari Games

When I was a kid, my parents didn’t have a lot of extra money to spend on toys and video games. I remember getting one or two gifts at Christmas and my birthday, but that was it. The rest of the year, I had to make do with hand-me-downs from siblings or cast-offs from friends. This seemed perfectly normal to me at the time; it’s only when I look back with an adult’s perspective that I realize how much my mom and dad really struggled to make ends meet. Now that I’m on my own and making great money, a part of me can’t help but feel nostalgic about all the things I wanted as a kid. That’s why I’ve been treating myself to all the old Atari games that my parents could never afford to buy me back then.

Vinyl Records and the Market

The market is clamoring for more vinyl discs but sad to say Pressing companies are producing them fewer these days because they think that nobody would like to buy vinyl records.  It should not be that way because everything under the sun must be tackled and issues such as vinyl records demand must be addressed.

Right now, people are preferring to have that vinyl discs on their collection compared to last few years ago that nobody wanted to indulge on vinyl collecting. Those who had been collecting early had taken the advantage and they are already laughing right now.

A lot of people are thinking about how to purchase these rare vinyl records. Take note that on the internet there are a lot of things that you can purchase. One of the best things in purchasing online are vinyl records because from all over the world, people are selling them like hot pan cakes.

To tell you eBay had been taking advantage of vinyl exchanges on their website and vinyl records  are one of their hot items for auction everyday.

Vinyl Records Frustrates CDs Today

The issue on who will survive among music storage playback will be more upbeat because of the resurgence of Vinyl discs on mainstream media. One fatal blow among CDs is that vinyl records hold the most nostalgic object that matters mostly to baby boomers. It is some what a surging trend because back in the early 90’s, vinyl records’ sales gone a slumping negative feedback while most of digitized music media had been the new kid on the block.

The growing piracy, slaps a face among cd music manufacturers because  pirated copies of records had been their mortal enemies. Until vinyl discs suddenly sprang up last year to a record breaking phenomenon.

Vinyl is back on track.

Former Most Sought After Drummer Sentenced in Jail

A man who is a professional drummer who toured with Take That, Texas, and Whitney Houston had been sentenced for four years in jail after holding up a bank with a music-stand as a gun. He was lawfully sentenced with “ham-fisted” robbery.

The court was told that he stole £1,200 from a branch of Lloyds TSB in Folkestone in July by using a gift-wrapped music stand to imitate a gun and pretending he had a bomb strapped to his leg.

He forced the cashier to hand over banknotes, stuffing them into a guitar case, but was arrested after a passer-by saw him putting the notes into his pockets on a nearby beach.

Tate, 46, who spent five years touring with Take That during the height of their fame in the early 1990s, needed the cash to pay off a £400 drugs debt and cover his rent, Maidstone Crown Court was told.

Passing sentence, Judge Andrew Patience said: “The bank employees must have been absolutely terrified. They didn’t know if it was a gun or not and there was the absurd thought that you might let off a bomb attached to your leg. Long after you have served your sentence such people will still be suffering.”
